About Dr. Khair

Dr. Michael Khair is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon at Carrell Clinic. Dr. Khair is fellowship-trained in sports surgery, meaning he has extensive training in sports medicine, including the diagnosis and treatment of sports-related injuries, such as anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries, shoulder instability, and hip trauma and conditions. A Dallas-based sports surgeon, Dr. Khair's expertise includes hip arthroscopy (or hip scope, a minimally invasive hip surgery), complex shoulder surgery, complex knee surgery, cartilage repair, and meniscus transplants.

Dr. Khair was raised in Denver, Colorado. He went to Bowdoin College where he played lacrosse and graduated Magna Cum Laude with majors in both Chemistry and Philosophy. He subsequently spent time at the Hastings Center in Garrison, New York where he worked for two years studying biomedical ethics prior to completing medical school at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University. He then completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the Hospital for Special Surgery, ranked the best orthopaedic hospital in the country as well as the best orthopaedic residency in the country. After graduating from HSS, he was accepted to Rush University’s prestigious orthopaedic sports medicine fellowship which is considered to be the best sports fellowship in the country. There he completed exceptional training in sports surgery, including complex knee and shoulder surgery as well as shoulder and knee instability repair. He currently resides in Dallas, Texas, with his wife Lauren LaMont and their sons Logan and Dylan.

Dr. Khair’s interests and specialty training includes care of the following: sports injuries in recreational and competitive athletes of all ages; cartilage restoration and transplantation in all joints; shoulder, knee, and hip arthroscopy; hip, knee and shoulder preservation; ligament injuries; shoulder, knee and hip instability surgery; rotator cuff surgery, shoulder, and knee replacement surgery; orthopaedic trauma and fracture care; and joint restoration and preservation.

Dr. Khair is an active member of the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and the Arthroscopy Association of North America. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
