Joint Replacement Specialist Dr. Justin Cardenas Joins Carrell Clinic Sept. 3
Carrell Clinic will welcome a fellow of the institution and Dallas native, Dr. Justin Cardenas, to its team of experts Sept. 3. Dr. Cardenas is a fellowship-trained hip and knee replacement surgeon who will see patients in Dallas at 9301 N. Central Expressway, Tower I, Suite 400, and Frisco at 3800 Gaylord Parkway, Suite 710. Patients in need of specialized hip and knee care are encouraged to call 214-220-2468 to be seen by a Carrell Clinic expert.
With advanced training in joint replacement care, Dr. Cardenas specializes in reconstructive procedures to relieve hip and knee pain and restore function for patients. The Dallas native is a graduate of Highland Park High School and married father of two, and his commitment to keeping the community healthy includes his involvement at his church at Grace Lake Highlands. In his practice, Dr. Cardenas prioritizes a conservative approach and turns to surgical methods only when necessary and enjoys the opportunity to connect with his patients on an individual level to make a lasting impact on their lives through treatment. His comprehensive expertise in advanced hip and knee care includes:
- Direct anterior approach total hip replacement.
- Minimally invasive hip and knee replacement surgery.
- Robotic-assisted joint replacement.
- Revision hip and knee replacement.
- Quad-sparing total knee replacement.
- Partial knee replacement.
- Hip and knee fractures and infections.
“We have seen Dr. Cardenas learn and grow to an extraordinary level through his training with us, and we are so proud to welcome him to our team,” said Dr. Paul Peters, fellowship-trained reconstructive hip and knee surgeon at Carrell Clinic. “His enthusiasm and joy for helping patients is infectious, and we know he will change many lives for the better at Carrell Clinic.”
While attending Highland Park High School, Dr. Cardenas played football and started as a defensive back his senior year. He was a founding member of Iron Sharpens Iron, a Christian men’s bible study, which is still active. Upon graduation, he was honored as the top male graduate with the National Honor Society Blue Blanket Award. He continued his education at Texas A&M University in College Station, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences. He served as the Director of The Big Event, which is the largest student-led, one-day service project in the country with over 20,000 student volunteers. He was a Maroon Coats donor liaison and member of the Aggie Men’s Club. For his leadership and involvement, he was awarded the Gates-Muller Leadership Award as one of the top students in the class of 7,000.
After completing his undergraduate studies, Dr. Cardenas attended Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree and was elected as the medical school class president. He stayed at Baylor College of Medicine to complete his orthopaedic surgery residency. Dr. Cardenas then returned to Dallas as he committed to a year as the inaugural fellow in hip and knee reconstruction at Carrell Clinic and has joined their clinic after fellowship. He is an active member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Texas Orthopaedic Association.
